About Wyotech

Know Your Brand. Forge Your Path.

In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, we’ve built our legacy—one that’s projected WyoTech as a frontrunner in the Automotive, Collision and Diesel industries. We believe you need to forge your path in this world of ours, and brand yourself proudly in whatever that path might be. That’s why we wanted to re-establish a brand that represents the American dream; a brand with a backbone of hard work, respect, and integrity; a brand that honors our blue-collar individuals who don’t always reap the recognition of their hard work, but keep the world spinning as we know it. We’re WyoTech: A place for those who know their brand and forge their path.

WyoTech was founded in Laramie, Wyoming, in 1966.

The goal of the school was simple: Provide a top-notch, concentrated training program that prepared students for the growing demand for technicians in the automotive and diesel industry.

Since that time, WyoTech has helped tens of thousands of graduates obtain training and go on to pursue great careers with a seemingly endless list of companies located all across the globe.

What has always made WyoTech different from other schools is the way our curriculum is designed and delivered, and the way we focus on developing the “whole” technician. Our curriculum is delivered to students as they attend class and shop for 8 hours a day. This not only allows our students to complete their programs sooner but also prepares them for the schedule they’ll encounter when they go on to their career. In addition to developing technician skills, we also focus on developing “soft skills,” like customer service, professional demeanor and appearance, and a heavy focus on attendance. Many employers have told us this leads to a very well-rounded graduate who acclimates well to their workplace.

Under new leadership, we’re committed to continuing the legacy and living the ideals of WyoTech.

Over the past 15 years, WyoTech has undergone a couple of ownership changes. The most recent ownership group announced in November of 2017 that it was closing all WyoTech campuses across the US to focus on other endeavors. On July 2, 2018, the new, local ownership group—led by former WyoTech president and alumni Jim Mathis—purchased the Laramie, Wyoming, campus from its previous ownership. This campus will continue to offer the excellent training that has become synonymous with WyoTech.

As the new CEO, Jim has assembled a team of people who are as dedicated and passionate as he is about helping people prepare for careers in the industry. A graduate of the WyoTech diesel program himself, Jim went on to teach at WyoTech and ultimately became President of the school up until it was acquired in 2002.

Under new leadership, we’re committed to continuing the legacy and living the ideals of WyoTech as we prepare aspiring technicians for one of the most robust job markets the industry has seen in decades.
